Role:
Transport Co-ordinator

The Green Group is a General Haulage, Pallet Network and Warehousing business and we are looking to recruit a Transport Co-ordinator at our Head Office based in Maltby, Rotherham, working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 6am to 6pm.

The transport office is very busy, therefore we need people who are happy to work in a fast paced environment and can work under pressure. Provide dedicated customer service, have initiative and worked within General Haulage.

Duties will involve:

  • Ensure drivers have been pre-briefed at start of their shift
  • Ensure all drivers are in the correct uniform
  • Ensure drivers are equipped with the correct PPE and are provided with all equipment applicable to their role. Also, they are trained to use the Company’s Truckcom mobile tablet
  • De–brief drivers at the end of their shift, ensure Tacho cards are downloaded, paperwork filled in correctly and folders are complete
  • Check Pods throughout the day and ensure all information is scanned and captured
  • Scan and check POD’s when necessary and retrain drivers on their responsibilities if required
  • Ensure any goods returned are checked, logged and dealt with as per customer requirements
  • Ensure Drivers infringements are captured daily and ensure infringements are de-briefed
  • Defect reports are monitored daily with any issues raised and dealt with in a quick and timely manner, investigate damage on trailers and tractor units
  • Damage and accident reports are completed and investigated in a timely manner
  • Trailer service dates are adhered to
  • Communicate with the Garage to ensure all trailer servicing is up to date and complete
  • General administration duties as required by Transport Manager/Shift Manager
  • Stand in for the shift Manager during periods of absence
  • Oversee all deliveries to ensure they are on time and progress chase drivers

Candidates should be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of driver hours and legislation on road transport regulations as well as an extensive geographical knowledge of the UK. Previous experience in General Haulage route planning is preferred. You should be computer literate and preferably experienced with transport management systems. Be able to work on your own initiative, cope with pressurised situations and demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills.

Role:
Shift Manager Nights

The Green Group is a General Haulage, Pallet Network and Warehousing business and we are looking to recruit a Transport Shift Manager (Nights) at our Head Office based in Maltby, Rotherham, working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 6pm to 6am.

The transport office is very busy, therefore we need people who are happy to work in a fast paced environment and can work under pressure. Provide dedicated customer service, have initiative and worked within General Haulage.

You will be responsible for the execution and planning of the drivers work schedule, making sure this is done efficiently. When performing the role you will need to ensure the service to our customers, quality of the driver performance and compliance is maintained.

Outline of Main Duties:

  • Operate the shift plan in place effectively making any changes needed to the plan in order to ensure that the work flows throughout the shift
  • Ensure all drivers are briefed prior to their shift and allocate work
  • Ensure drivers are dressed appropriately for the role including wearing the correct PPE as required prior to departure.
  • Ensure Drivers infringements are captured daily and ensure infringements are de briefed face to face and on FTA
  • Defect reports are monitored daily with any issues raised and dealt with in a quick and timely manner, investigate new damage on trailers and tractor units
  • Damage and accident reports are completed and investigated in a timely manner
  • Trailer service dates are adhered to, full communication with the garage and planning team
  • Ensure any goods returned are checked, logged and dealt with as per customer requirements
  • Ensure all drivers receive a full induction and all SSOW’S are completed prior to starting work
  • Produce KPI reports for the business managers and produce hand over reports
  • De Brief drivers accordingly to ensure that jobs have been completed correctly, PODS have been scanned, vehicle washed, filled with fuel and tachograph information is downloaded at the end of each shift / working week
  • Manage and support Transport Shift Co Ordinator’s in their day to day role
  • Co-ordinate all Group unit/trailer breakdowns and all relevant information is passed on.
  • Ensure all tyre call outs are reported and completed
  • Oversee all deliveries to ensure they are on time, progress chase drivers and log the reason for any late or failed deliveries on Truckcom
  • Working with the Transport Manager to ensure that all legal requirements are adhered to with regards to tacho downloads, vehicle downloads, driver hours and Transport legislation and that any offences are discussed and signed off with appropriate drivers
  • Identifying training needs of individuals through performance and appraisal processes
  • Ensure a Shift hand over is completed with detailed handover notes and follow up action for on coming Shifts
  • Liaising with Customer Services and the Transport Planning team in relation to any potential service issues or operational needs, e.g.: - shot loads, where accountability must be investigated
  • Maintain compliance of H&S, ISO9001 and 14001, policies and procedures

Experience and Skills

  • Experience of working in a busy transport office (General Haulage environment)
  • Experience of General Haulage route planning
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Drivers Hours, WTD and Road Transport Regulations
  • Strong people management skills, leading by example and engaging with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to train and develop people
  • Knowledge of computerised scheduling and driver management packages
  • Excellent IT, communication and customer service skills
  • International CPC would be desirable, however knowledge of Transport law would be an advantage

Job Description:
The Green Group is a General Haulage, Pallet Network and Warehousing business with a fleet of modern vehicles. We are looking to recruit an HGV Technician to work in our new site in Ellesmere Port. At this location we have 40 vehicles and 90 trailers. Initial hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.30pm but will change to 6am to 2.30pm and 1.30pm to 10.00pm when the Workshop is fully resourced and up and running.

Summary of Position:

  • Maintain, inspect & repair vehicles and trailers
  • Prepare, present and accompany HGV vehicles for annual test
  • Carry out periodic safety inspections to all HGV vehicles to DVSA standards and higher
  • Attend breakdowns or accident damaged vehicles and carry out permanent or running repairs as required
  • Ensure all relevant health & safety legislation is adhered to
  • Paperwork – Must be kept up to date, make sure it’s completed and correctly filled out in a timely manner
  • Update of records/defects via the workshop system
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping to keep all areas in a safe and clean condition
  • Time critical servicing – must carry out work in a prompt and professional manner to suit time frames
  • Tools and equipment management – must keep and maintain tools provided by the company in an orderly fashion
  • Diagnostic reports on technical issues with vehicles/trailers
